This was my first Joseph R. Garber book and it was okay. The synopsis talks about Charlie McKenzie and how he's going to find the Russian spy, etc. The book starts out good with Charlie's negotiations/demands, but then it seems to go downhill some when the female Russian spy is brought into the mix. I think what bothered me more was the narrator, Guerin Barry. I hated his "voices" for the Russian spy and then the South African soldier who's been hired to find and kill Charlie. Very irritating. And finally, the story has gaps where he jumps from one scene/part to another, with no explanation as to how the characters get there. The ending, too was disappointing as we don't know how Charlie and his son Scott gets out of trouble, etc. All-in-all, some parts were good, others were badly written and edited.
