This book had its pros and cons. I thought the dialogue was great and the characters engaging. Naturally I wanted to know what happened to Darcy and Elizabeth after they married, and of course Jane and Bingley. But even Caroline Bingley and other lesser characters were interesting to read.

The main characters seemed mainly faithful to the original, with two exceptions. 1. I couldn't buy Elizabeth's wedding-night confession of her feelings when she first met Darcy. It just wasn't quite right. 2. I can accept that Darcy may have had some family issues growing up, but his behavior was really outlandish at times. He was too angsty and emotionally damaged.

However, there were some fun bits, and it was all worth it for the scene with Darcy, Elizabeth, and Caroline Bingley riding together in a carriage. So funny - Lizzy was brilliant. :-)

I did like the crazy turn of events that ended the book. Darcy acted kind of nutty, and I guess it might be considered a little overdramatic, but I really enjoyed it.

I don't think genteel English people of the time period would have reacted so calmly to Trevor Handley's secret, but that fact didn't ruin the book for me at all.

I guess I have mixed feelings about this book. I did not regret reading it, but I do not regret passing it along to the next reader.
