This is my first book by Diana Palmer; I don't usually read modern westerns. I thought I'd give this author a try and I have to admit that the pages flew by; I finished it in one sitting. The modern setting offered a different perspective on the western romance.

I thought the novel moved at a healthy pace. However, I had a real problem with this heroine. There was absolutely NOTHING Morie Bryannt couldn't do -- she was an accomplished musician, party planner and cook, dancer, college graduate. She was also wealthy, witty and beautiful.

Oops, she knew nothing about being a cowhand (when hired) but was such a quick study that her employers soon thought she was the best employee they'd ever had.

Morie was tired of being pursued for her bank account instead of her fine character. She wanted to learn the cattle business from the ground up and left her home (the largest cattle ranch in Texas) to work at a successful, more modest ranch in Wyoming. The reason Morie couldn't learn the business at home was her father's attitude that ranching was men's work.

This was such a rarefied family that her mother was a fashion model and her grandmother had been a movie star. Of course, everyone had their own airplane. The story line was so obvious that the reader could tell what would happen chapters before it occurred. This novel was a real mixture of pros and cons.
