Thankfully, this book follows, chronologically, "Gardens of the Moon" immediately. Many new characters, a new area, new gods, new problems, new revelations. Hang on for the ride.

This struck me as very intense in how the characters were portrayed. Everyone was on edge, for one reason or another. There were no happy-go-lucky types. Grab and shake, the whole book through.
