Back cover blurb:

His unexpected bride...

Wealthy landowner Simon Clare shuns Northumbrian society. With his son gravely ill, the last thing Simon needs is an interfering woman assuming command of his household -- no matter how sensuous her figure, or how tempting her luscious lips ....

Phoebe Benedict knows what it is to struggle and isn't frightened of the badly scarred recluse and his gruff exterior. It's the man beneath the scars that makes her heart race ...

Simon's ten year old son Robert contracted scarlet fever at school, which has developed into rheumatic fever. In exchange for a favor to her stepbrother, Phoebe comes to nurse him instead of his aunt Diana. Simon is desperate with worry over his son and resists her presence at first. Despite his initial distrust, a relationship develops between the two.

This tale is well told, although there's nothing in it that seems new or striking. The author's writing style is pleasant and doesn't get in the way of the story.
