I truly enjoyed this book. It moved at a steady pace, with just enough intrigue and mystery to keep you guessing. The characters are believable, adult, and well developed. Our hero, Davis, is a self-assured hunk of a man but does not use a heavy handed manner to get his way, instead he used subtle seduction, reasonable negotiation, and subtle seduction. Our heroine, Barrett, is an educated professional, knows herself, has well developed goals and has a plan for meeting them. When she and Davis are thrown together when he inherits the family papers that she's using for research that should result in her meeting her goal of being recognized in her field she never thinks to have to contend with the strong attraction to the new owner. And he never thinks to have to contend with what he considers a waste of his time or the strong attraction he feels to this "waste." Throw in to that mix is the mystery of what is contained in the papers and just why his cousin does not want either of the to find out and you have a mystery, some danger from the cousin, and a slow seduction. Wonderful for a late night read or a beach read. Ann Macela is a writer I'll be looking for again. (Reminds me a bit of Jayne Ann Krentz's writing.)
