Once again, Kathryn Davis' version of the oft-told life of Marie Antoinette is clever and beautifully written. I'm just left wondering, why? I didn't feel that Davis' creative pyrotechnics added anything to my understanding of the (possibly more sinned against than sinning) Queen.
