This is told through the viewpoints of many people. All of these individuals have been alone and trying to escape Russian/German invasion during World War II. Each is trying to reach the sea and try to escape such.
All of them are from different countries, with different stories. Young, old, Polish, Lithuanian, German, etc. Children and adults. Each alone, but have come together under strange circumstances, so they learn to rely upon each other to survive.
