A thriller, romance, and crime mystery all rolled into oneâ¦â¦.when Mary Rose returns home to England with her fiance Simon for him to meet her parents, weird vibes come through about something that happened in Mary Rose's childhood. MR insists on showing Simon the Scottish village and island where she spent many happy family vacations despite her parents trying to dissuade them going.
The boat ride to the island gives Simon some clues about the stories of odd goings-on at the island by partying teens and druids, but when MR goes off on her own and he cant find her right away, things become even more mysterious. They even add their own rock pillar to a collection of them on the shore, including the one Mary Rose built there as a child.
Eventually Simon discovers MR has no memory of the trauma she suffered when she disappeared from the island while spending a day there with her father as a young girl.
Despite law enforcement and volunteers searching the small island repeatedly, MR was not found. So where was she while she was missing? That's the great mystery Simon sets out to solve to help MR find some peace. He works through the clues he discovers as he interviews the locals until he thinks he has it figured out.
But another surprise re-opens the old mystery, then a twist at the end further entangles thingsâ¦â¦.
This book was amazing once the young couple gets over to the UK and we dig our teeth into the events of MR's childhood.
