A few weeks apart and with the same cast of characters from "The Vulcan Academy Murders" this one strikes at the very center of Vulcan philisophy: Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations as it is presented at vulcan colony Nisus, where 11 species share space and resources in the hopes of creating a harmonious whole. Then a disaster strikes, and those of 'mixed' blood start falling ill. Then those of 'pure' blood sicken. The plague extends across ethnic lines and threatens to render the community apart.
Of course, in comes the Enterprise to the rescue... and they get contaminated as well.

All and all, the book is rather amateurishly written; there are far too many exclamation (and very distracting!!) points; yet if you are willing to overlook this flaw, this book will entertain you and who knows, maybe even make you think a little.
