What is it about the woods, folks? Don't you know that all spooky things happen in the woods? What makes this novel truly chilling is the way all the weird happenings slowly build and gather steam. That and the fact that it spans a long period. That it happens to a kid. The ending was so unexpected and impressionable that I'm still reliving it in my head days afterwards. Some things are left to the imagination, which is more unnerving than the in-your-face frights. It's a good pick for psychological horror fans. 4 stars.
