I read the other Wallflower books first so I was a bit surprised at how shallow Annabelle seemed in this book. She was really sweet in the other ones. But in this book, she did a small transformation from being superficial to down-to-earth. At the beginning of the book I got the sense that if Annabelle had a dowry she would be thumbing her nose at the other wallflowers as well. It was only because of her circumstances that she became friends with them.

Simon was actually quite wonderful in this book. Even though he was considered the hero here there was very little for him to do but to win Annabelle and save the day with her family. He was straight forward and didnt play any games. It was nice and kind of refreshing.

I loved the Wallflower interactions and the set up for Lillians book.

Good, quick read. Nothing that would be life-altering but fun all the same.
