Do dragons have treasures? So believe most citizens from Carlieff that Creel knows including her mother. The family needs money so Creel is taken to the mouth of a cavern where a dragon is believed to live, offered in return for treasure. Creel meets the dragon who collects shoes! She understands the dragon and she bargains for a pair of shoes because her sandals are worn. The dragon agrees. When she finds a pair of blue slippers which fit her the dragon is reluctant to let this pair go but Creel persists and leaves the cave wearing the blue slippers. However, there is more to the blue slippers than Creel knows and it leads to complications in her life.
As Creel travels she meets other dragons, one of which collect the treasures that humans believe. One collects beautiful stained glass winders and another collects dogs. She views the dragons a friends rather than enemies and cherishes the time she spends with them. As her story unfolds, there is conflict, a selfish and arrogant princess whose father wants to annex the land, two princes whose lives are threatened, and a battle to win. This is a delightful read and if first, one likes dragons, and two, fantasy, take time to enjoy this story. It's great fun.
