Lisa Jewell is a fairly new to me author and I have been enjoying her books. This one is about eccentric, Alice, a single mom of three dogs and three children, in her early forties; doesn't take care of herself, gained weight, hair a mess and wears funky sweatshirts. Her children were from three different men, and she admits to loving sex.
One day she sees a man sitting on the beach in pouring rain. He just stays there looking out at the water. Alice is curious, takes a rain jacket and soup with her to see if she can help him. It turns out he has no memory of his name and why he is there. She takes him home and names him Frank.
And so starts the story, a little slow at first, but building in suspense until I couldn't put the book down. There are twisty parts and I was completely immersed in this story. a mystery exploring twenty years, I found myself holding my breath with each page.
Loved it!
