Helpful Score: 2
I was surprised by this authors elaborate writing style and also the depth of her descriptions, oddly reminiscent of Victoria Holt or even Edgar Allen Poe "The Fall of the House of Usher". It took her all of 3 pages to describe the girl's nightly bedtime ritual and the decorations of the rooms were never lacking. However I did, in the end, enjoy the story even though it left a void in some other places. The mysteries were never really over with any crescendo and the romance not in the least surprising, as the author decided to skip out on some aspects of the story. The main characters were not developed and others were not even allowed to try to develop. In the end, although there was much to dislike and pick apart about this book/story, I will seek out more of the authors books and definitely recommend this one.
