Quite a whimsical tale from Loretta Chase. I enjoyed it, yes, but couldn't help thinking that it was trying too hard to be a Julia Quinn romp.
I almost disliked the heroine for the first third of the book, but Olivia's character eventually shone through. The mystery was fun, the treasure hunt "interuptus" was entertaining ... in the end, all was quite satisfying! Looking back I wish I had been able to disassociate the two writing styles while reading through the book.
Truly, read and enjoy. This is much better than the usual historical romance fare. Although, no one can touch Julia Quinn's penchant for hysterical historical romance, this is still loads of fun!
