This book is written for parents with child-athletes ages 5 to about 14. My children are slightly older, but I still got a lot out of this book. Cal Ripken, Jr. covers all aspects of children and sports: organized and unorganized, club/travel teams and sandlot pick up games, team and individual. I especially appreciated the verbiage he gives when you need to talk with coaches about issues which arise, the comparison of children in sports from 30-40 years ago to now, and how important visualization is to athletes. I highly recommend this book to every parent of a child in sports all the way through high school and if I had a younger child, I would probably reread it every 3 years to refresh my thoughts on how to help my child enjoy sports as long as possible.
NOTE: If you have a child who is about to give up sports, you might read this to help you ascertain why and make sure your child transitions well or, maybe, continues as an athlete.
