This book gives a good overview of home schooling. However, it is very religious focused and if that is one of your primary reasons for seeking homeschooling, this would be reassuring but if it is not, it may come across as preachy. I particularly enjoyed that she broke down the different schools of through on education and felt that that chapter could have been made even longer. I liked that she quoted studies to back up some of her assertions but felt that not enough info was given about the studies without me seeking the information elsewhere. For instance, stating a study found that homeschoolers had fewer problem behaviors than their counterparts in public school is fine but if the study was only five students, that looks a lot different than a study that was 4000 students and without that key piece of information, the reader can not judge if the study is significant or not. The book also gives a lot of resources on where to seek additional information which is very helpful. Overall, I am glad I read the book and it will help me to decide if home schooling is right for my family.
