FANTASTIC! I don't remember ever reading a book where I felt so strongly about a character. Serena is so well written that at times I idolized her and at other times I was so disgusted with her that I wanted her dead. Kudos to Ron Rash for making a character so complex and powerful. He also did a wonderful job setting the scene of the western North Carolina mountains, although at times I wished he would get over the trees and get on with Serena's next exploit. He also brought in local dialect without overdoing it. It's just fantastic and a great character for any woman to imagine being and facing.
