A very different Ripley book. A seemingly good kid kills his father. He runs to France to meet up with the notorious Ripley . . . and, perversely, Ripley ends up being the best & most dependable authority figure in his life. More of an oblique commentary on authority and challenges to authority in the late 20th century West than what we've come to expect from Ripley. Certainly not up the best in the series, but not bad.
