After reading so many okay books, Lahiri's writing style and stories always stand out. This book has layers and layers of story. Insights into the freedom movement in India, lifestyle in India, a bit of insight into being a foreigner in America. Beyond the fact that it just happens to be a story about people born in India, it is a story about relationships. The ties between brothers, expectations of parents, husband and wife, and father and daughter. A wonderful book that I did not want to end.
