This is a great start to what looks to be a very interesting series! Modern village life in a Scottish Borders town. Lots of interesting characters; the female Jamaican minister, the publican and his wife who are not who they seem to be, the Laird who is struggling to keep his manor from falling down, and a promise of May-December romance between a struggling artist and a very recent widow. If you have enjoyed the Round Ringford stories of Ann Purser, or the Turnham Malpas series by Rebecca Shaw, you would enjoy this cozy read.
