The book was set in the Louisiana Bayou, and the setting played a big part in the book. Bobbie Faye, who only wants to go to the Contraband Day Festival, gets into trouble when her brother gets kidnapped and she is robbed while trying to get the ransom (a tiara). She meets a handsome not-what-he-seems man who has an agenda of his own. What follows is an adventure into trying to resolve the situation.

Bobbie Faye is something of a famous Louisiana train wreck, so there are lots of references to misadventures she has had before. The book is cute, and the focus of the plot is a fast-moving attempt to save her brother and get her life back in order.

One thing about this book does make my blood boil. It has been rereleased as a book called Charmed and Dangerous, which is a mass market paperback rather than a trade paperback (as this book is). If you did not know that, the only place to figure it out is on the copyright page. It just seems obnoxious to me to do that on a book that has only been out for a few years. So, if you really love this book, don't get confused.

There is a sequel out if you like this one.
