A team of doctors has issued Linnet Allen a dire prognosis: early death. Fighting despair and with nothing to lose, Linnet and her father Judd accept an invitation to Judd's brother's Utah ranch. Far from a sterile sanitarium, the Rocking A Ranch in Moab, Utah, is a no-frills working ranch in the 1890s, surrounded by wild horses, breathtaking views, and ruthless outlaws. Wild horses bring former cowboy Andy Cullen to these unsettled parts, and he won't leave until one particular stallion is his. Seemingly Andy and the frail Linnet have little in common, yet looks can be deceiving. For as determined as the cowboy is to possess the ebony-coated Sheik, so one young woman is to claim life and the dreams of love. But until their dreams become reality, if ever they do, both will be captives of the canyon.
