Wolves are, and have always been, one of my favorite animals. I still remember the day I was standing on a hill in northern Alaska, overlooking a river near the Beaufort Sea. I turned to me left and saw three adult wolves on the next finger. They were also looking at the river flats, searching for prey I guess. I was so awed I forgot I had a camera. It was interesting too that they ignored me, didn't even give me a glance. Of course, they had probably already checked me out thoroughly.

This is a good book about establishing wolves in the lower 48 states and what happens when people don't want to know how important wolves are to the environment.

My favorite quote from the book: "The caribou feeds the wolf, but the wolf makes the caribou strong."
