This book started slow, but quickly became a high speed and action packed story. It is very thought-provoking, and highlights what the author (and many others) believe is the cultural destruction of first Europe, and eventually America. Our planet is in a war, and the war is between cultures, and this war is driven by demographics. I recommend reading "America Alone" by Mark Steyn (who wrote a rave review of this novel), and "Under the Banner of Heaven" by Jon Krakauer to put this novel in context.
