I've read several of DeMille's books and I believe this one is my favorite. He really ratchets up the suspense in this "end of the world" type novel and keeps you spellbound. Of course, the main character having a problem with authority figures and possessing a razor sharp wit that not everyone appreciates, helped hold my interest.
