After being caught in a compromising clinch with his boss's granddaughter, ranch foreman Eli Forrester was forced into a shotgun marriage with Melanie Kincaid. I was terribly annoyed with Melanie and her grandfather and her brother. Melanie was living with her mother and her brother went to live with their grandfather but her grandfather never invited Melanie to the ranch, never called. What a jerk! If you can ignore the fact that however nice Merritt wants to make the grandfather he is a misogynist who doesn't deserve any forgiveness then it isn't a bad story.
