This book was everything! YA, horror, romance, thriller....All wrapped up into one story. I loved the premise and I loved the book even more. I usually go for zombie books, but not the walking, talking, hanging around in the high school type zombie books like this one. I usually despise books that give zombies a voice. It's just so unnatural! Even so, I gave this book a chance and it really surprised me. There are some awesome gory parts that made me say EWWW! I thought about this book while I wasn't reading it and it takes a good book to do that for me. It even (should I admit it?) gave me nightmares. I love that too! I would recommend this book for thriller lovers, zombie lovers and YA lovers. The only thing I didn't like about this book is that it wrapped up too neatly into a happily ever after type ending and I hated that. Give me some angst, death and destruction any day. Things don't have to turn out rosy!! I'll keep an eye out for future books by AJ Whitten; they have made a fan out of me!
