Taken is an intriguing young adult book with a lot of things going for it that make it unique. First, while it's not unheard of to have a male protagonist, in the young adult genre, most are female. Also, in the majority of YA book series, there is a love triangle. There's one here too, but two girls and one guy and not vice versa. Not to mention that there's some super world-building. I don't want to give a lot of the plot away, but it reminded me of the future set in the past, even though it wasn't. It will make sense if you read it though. The plot unfolded at a steady pace and although I didn't connect with Gray, I thought he was a strong character. I look forward to reading more of this engrossing series!
