Third in the series, and Yarbro is now fully into the style she'll keep for the rest of the books. Lots and lots of political intrigue, with danger slowly gathering for St. Germain as he is always the foreigner in the midst. Lots of historical detail as well, although the gladiator games are enough to turn your stomach. We get to see how Olivia and Roger are introduced. Frankly I thought it was a bit slow-going in the middle...I found myself starting to read only the right-hand pages, but that didn't last too long.
