Maybe my rating will change after reading the series but to read a nearly 500 page book that is just beginning to set the stage of the story is tedious and annoying. Add to that the fact that either by design of the author or some misread of my own I was over 200 pages in when I realized the two men were switched in my head as to which one was the prince (Rafe) and which was assassin (Kaden). I also intensely dislike books written by multiple characters at the same time, I find it often isn't done cleanly and leads to confusion as it did in this book. The whole premise of the story is confusing, likely intended, so you have to finish reading. Yet if they are all as long as this one and never reach a point I'm not really sure why I should keep reading. It seems the story could progress faster and be less ambiguous while doing so.
