Yes, this was a long book, 19 CDs but I actually wanted more when it was done. If you are in the medical field you will love the surgical descriptions and diagnoses. This book is great on so many levels and disturbing in others. I almost didn't listen past a particularly disturbing section about animals but I'm glad I did. The description of events in Ethiopia was also interesting. There is romance, maternal love, abandonment, medicine, revolution, betrayal, redemption and so much more. Only an author skilled in language, world affairs, the human situation and medicine could have written such a masterpiece.
