Stop Obsessing and get worrisome thoughts out of your mind is the topic of this book. It addresses topics such as "checking." You leave your house to go somewhere, but return several times to see if you locked the door, turned off the curling iron, closed the curtains, and this is becoming a chronic problem. Additionally many other irrational behaviors and problems are profiled: Constant inability to sleep at night because your mind will not "turn off" with insignificant replays of the day and worries about the future; the need to ritualize activities to eleviate anxiety and to magically prevent something bad from happening; the need to hoard and fear of getting rid of "things;" the fear of using a public bathroom because of contamination; the fear of people touching your things. If any of these specific problems and more that are discussed in this book apply to you or someone you know then an obsessive-compulsive disorder may be part of the problem, and it is important to learn some techniques to "stop obsessing." It is an interesting read and most people will be able to relate whether to occasional issues or chronic problems.
