A deeply moving romance between childhood lovebirds, Jennifer and Gordon, who were separated by underhanded means. The first half was all about the hows and wherefores of their relationship, and the second part was spent unraveling the intricate baby secrets that come to light. Not only is the romance tender and satisfying, the plot twists were original in the scope of historical romance even if they were just a tad far-fetched. One or two loose ends and a rushed ending didn't feel quite right; I would have liked more explanations and payback (yes, I'm a little bloodthirsty). Still, it's a good read. Karen Ranney will be missed. 3.5 stars.
