The first novel of Wellesley, MA native Suzanne LaFleur is as devastating as they come. As we follow 11 year-old Aubrey Lynn Priestly through a tumultuous grief stricken year of life, you suffer the agonizing pain of a young girl in mourning trying to fight her way back to some semblance of normalcy.
While there are books that can reduce a reader to tears, this book stands out among even those. This book doesn't just make you tear up, it reaches in and squeezes your heart til it breaks again and again.
An incredibly well written and beautiful first novel, and I look forward to more from Ms. LaFleur.
