I depend on the reviews here and amazon to give me insight and direction. I read some reviews here about not being able to get past the 1st 100 pages. I also mistakenly read that the books outcome was pretty clear by the first 100 pages, but it really said the last 100 pages. So I read the 1st 100 pages and by then I was interested but didnt have a clear clue outcome so I kept reading. The story got better, the characters more powerful. I wanted to find out how it ended. I wasnt even sure til the last 10 pages.

So the cover leads me to believe this book is about 4 spoiled women who meet in some upscale place. But really the story is about a river in Idaho, how that river steals Jina' husband who is Danny's father. How Jina's friend Alice writes the book of the same title and hurts Jina, Mary and Irene. How Danny finds out the truth, from Alice's book, about his fathers death. So they all go on a rafting trip down that river. Of course all they lost, because of Alice's book and the river, will be found and some of things are not worth finding.

I liked this book so much I did a search to see what else the author has written. Christy Yorke seems to write were nature has magical powers or about broken people who are more powerful than they realize.
