Helpful Score: 1
I liked this book, I had enjoyed accidently seeing "The Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister" on tv a few years ago and sort of knew to expect the fairy tale to be fractured. Of course I'll never have to watch "The Wizard of Oz" from behind the couch anymore and I'm going to miss that.
I too saw the musical. I'm glad I read the book first. The first half of the show was pretty much according to the book. The second half was pretty much made up from some other story. But in retrospect it had to end that way, an unhappy ending does not a good musical make. Oh, spoiler alert I guess. But don't worry that it ends unhappily, you sort of know it will from the beginning, after all the witch is dead. But there is a follow up tale, "Son Of A Witch" that may sort of make up for the ending.
