A true five-star children's book! This was one of my boys' favorite books when they were between the ages of three and eight. It tells the tale of a scraggy old man who lives in a cabin in the woods with his hound dogs. While resting at home one night, he cuts off the tail of a weird-looking creature that had crept in through the cracks in the walls of his cabin. The suspense gradually builds as the creature returns for its tail night after night. Spooky noises heard in the dark make the spine tingle while also providing some laughs and giggles along the way. Great illustrations!
