I'm not really sure why I put this book on my wish list - maybe because it's set in my native Birmingham. I knew from the first words that it was far more graphically sexual than most books I read, and it made me uncomfortable. But Dickey's prose pulled me in, and I became genuinely interested in Genevieve and Kenya. The story, being told from a man's point of view, was also somewhat enlightening. The Birmingham setting was done well and didn't set off alarm bells for this native.
I'm not sure I'll read any more of this author, but it was still a good story.
