Although at this point I have read only the first twenty pages or so on the bus coming from the VA Hospital where I found it on the book truck in the lobby where I was dropping off a dozen books, I find it well written. Be sure to read the prologue. The author sort of falls into things in life, in this case he is canned as a cop in Ventura County and decides to go active duty after eight years or so as a reservist in the Army. Both smart and hard working, he is able to become a W.O. and fly helicopters.
I have now read the first six chapters and still find it of interest, especially where he learns to drive a helicopter, as we learn a few details of the coordination it takes. The evasion and escape incident was especially interesting and other things such as 16 hours (abuse) on KP familiar to all of us.
A nice touch is the last pages of the book where he notes the outcomes of his comrades as of 1993. No index.
