Initially, I was really impressed with this standalone thriller from a new to me author. I enjoyed the writing and the storyline and raced through the first two thirds of it in one day. However, when I reached the last third of the book, I no longer cared for it. I've thought about the reason for the change in attitude over the last day or two and still can't figure it out. I thought that the book was too long and didn't care for most of the characters, but what else? I don't know, but I liked the author's writing enough to give his Dalziel and Pascoe series a try.
