Read this for July 2012's pick in my online book club, The Reading Cove. It was goodvery engaging and quite the page-turner at times!
Michael Vey is a high-school freshman with a secret. When his mom goes missing, he and his friends go on a dangerous quest to find her...and let the games begin! Can't say much more without spoilers, but I'm definitely interested in checking out the next book in the series!
On the downside, there were quite a few convenient characters thrown in to make things turn out the way they did, and there were also a few editing issues with some awkward sentences in a few parts, but these don't take much away from the enjoyment of the story; or the lessons about overcoming adversity, and the educational look at bullying.
I give this a solid B, good story!
