Child of Fire is a fast paced, mystery and action packed novel. It is the first novel by Harry Connolly and the first in the series. The second book is scheduled to be release in 2010 (according to his website, www.harryjconnolly.com ).
Raymond Lilly betrayed Annalise and now must continue to work for her as a driver. Annalise must complete an assignment for the Twenty Palace Society (society of sorcerors dedicated to getting rid of evil/rogue magicians) using Ray as her driver. Things go wrong and Ray must pick up and assist Annalise with completing her mission.
This novel pulled me in almost immediately and did not stop until the last page. The relationship between the characters is not predictable and leaves you somewhat guessing until the end. I enjoyed reading a book where I am not able to predict what will happen next in the story or between the characters. I am looking forward to reading the next installment in this series, the Game of Cages.
