This book is based on an Australian rhyme about a cockatoo that is killed by a morepork, and a variety of animals that prepare it for burial.
Interesting rhyming, great illustrations. The animals that are mentioned in the book were not animals that my children (ages 5 and 7) had heard of before, therefore the book didn't keep their attention very well. Examples of animals in the book: plover, wombat, platypus, macaw, ibis.
I would suggest ages 10+ might get more enjoyment out of this book than younger children.
