Everything that was good about Forrest Gump, the first book, is missing in this one. Forrest gets continually dumped upon instead of finding himself in the right place at the right time; he never learns anything; and instead of being a bit player in some major events in history, he suddenly becomes the catalyst. It goes far beyond the realm of curious disbelief and into the realm of fantasy, and it doesn't work. Not for this character. A total letdown.
