Everyone is shocked, especially the victim's family, by the verdict when the jury ruled not guilty. Though everyone believes he did it, former baseball star turned successful actor Robbie Childress was acquitted of all charges in the brutal murder of his spouse Andrea. Part of the reason he beat the rap is the sleazy work of private investigator Dan Hadley.
Seven months later in Aspen, the police arrest Lawrence, Andrea's father, for killing Robbie during the Bon Vin
Festival. Lawrence hires Cody Morris, who in turn employs Dan as his investigator. As Cody duels with the ambitious DA Barbara Pitkin, Dan tries to right what he feels was a wrong in the Childress case. At the same time, he falls in love with Tess, Andrea's sister. However, though she loves him back, Tess cannot forgive or forget what he did to free Robbie even if he uses some of the same tactics to liberate her father.
THE RIPPLE EFFECT is an excellent romantic suspense that provides insight into celebrity trials. Before readers think OJ, Lynn Erickson successfully takes her story line way beyond that murder trial through an act of vengeance perpetrated on the obvious but freed culprit. The characters are warm, wonderful, and motivated. Fans of legal procedurals and romance have a thriller to relish.
