This was just an awful book! I got more than 3/4 of the way through and had to stop torturing myself. I'm really glad it didn't cost me anything other than a credit but am kicking myself because I wasted one on the second in the series. After this disastrous start in the series, I took the 3rd off my wish list.
The story really had potential but fell flat to the author's unoriginal and poor writing skills. It read like a bad, cheezy Harlequin novel with characters that used a lot more "grown up" words (swearing). I found it ironic that the main character made the comment of how she felt like she was trapped in a B-Movie... well, a B-Book would be a better explanation. The dialogue was corny and repetitive and the romance cliched and better suited to a late-night movie on Cinemax.
There were also too many conflicting concepts in the story, such as first saying that the Atlanteans had a problem with modern language yet as you read on, they seemed to have no problem with slang and insults. It sometimes reminded me of an old Arnold or Stalone movie (and in a bad way!).
The author falls flat on her face if she's trying to keep up with others in this genre and I wouldn't recommend this one to anyone.
