Veronica is a mess when her pilot husband disappears. She and her three year old daughter who has an imaginary friend seem to know where her daddy went.

I liked the book but some things frustrated me. Veronica is whiny, weak and is always doubting herself. Police suspected she had something to do with her husband's desertion and kept harassing her. Her daughter is too manipulative for three years old.

However the last third of the book exposes the shocking secrets kept for years and comes to a satisfying conclusion.
