Thank you to Oceanview Publishing for allowing me to read and review this book.
A 16 year-old girl, pregnant, is taken against her will to a remote location where she is to be kept until her baby is born. Blond, blue-eyed babies come at a premium price.
The premise is good, it's different. This girl is also different. She can turn her emotions off and on at will with a mental switch. So far, so good.
But then this is where I get lost. This supposedly scared pregnant teenager turns out to be a sort of McGiver. She starts collecting 'assets' that can be turned into something else, something that will help her escape.
The story is told from two views .. hers, seventeen years after she was taken, and Detective Liu, who spent years looking for missing teenage girls ... blond blue-eyed girls.
A solid 3 1/2 stars edging to 4. I applaud the author for all the research she must have done to get all the technical work to seem so easy. Entertaining --- yes! Would it be a keeper on my bookshelves ---- maybe. Would I read the author's next book ... Yes!
